INTERACTIVE COLLABORATIVE ENVIRONMENT

The ICE lab is a technology playground where cutting edge 3-D / VR software intersects with complex integrated technology hardware to deliver very sophisticated solutions to marketing experts. Its unique display of leading retail super stores building layouts and product displays allow the viewers in a theatre-like setting lab environment the opportunity to virtually walk through a store and view products as if they were actually in the store. The display allows the retail stores and their hundreds of suppliers the opportunity to see their products displayed 3-D/Virtually with competitive products. Within the ICE Lab are there are several spaces that allow for more intense collaborative discussions, and activities such as rapid prototyping of product display, packaging, shelf locations, “what if” scenario testing, etc.

Within the Red Dot Square (RDS) space there is a large 12x30’ VR projection screen that displays the store walk-through activities along with four flat screen LED panels used for various product and packaging design capabilities. The entire lab is structured so that numerous creative though-seeking venues can happen in collaborative sessions to help move the product development process along at a much quicker pace than typically practiced. With the use of technology, products can be moved from one venue to the next as the discussion proceeds. The process eliminates a good share of down time that could stall the creative process.

RDS then uses 60 research labs located across the country to test the products with consumers before the product launches. This process not only decreases time to market, but also improves the success of the product launch.

Lockwood 2 Creations worked closely with RDS to develop the Rogers, AR ICE Lab space. After the actual location for the ICE Lab was selected, RDS provided L2C a VR file of several designs that demonstrated how the ICE lab should be implemented. From that point, RDS did not see the space until a couple of days before its grand opening, the first day of the Wal-Mart shareholder’s meeting.

L2C was a bit nervous about the finished product, but quickly learned by the reaction of RDS founder and President, Mark Edwards statement “Wow! This is better than I could have ever imagined!”

Leading a very talented project team of contractors and suppliers to achieve a six week completion schedule from demolition to grand opening was very demanding. Maintaining the RDS vision throughout the project was challenging due to several late technology changes and tight lead times of some furnishing fixtures. The complex technology and a very tight schedule required continuous review of dimensional tolerances of the integrated technology and supporting backup elements. L2C closely monitored all FF&E deliveries, as well as all construction phasing to complete the project on time. Not to overlook a budget that needed to be kept in check.

L2C is dedicated to delivering extremely high level results, typically more than clients expect.

Most of our projects are highly complex, technologically innovative, extremely collaborative and functionally supportive.
